In this article, we’ll explore what would happen if the global oil industry went fully renewable, breaking it down into technological, economic, and geopolitical aspects. Additionally, we’ll touch on the role of innovation, how economies might adjust, and the environmental consequences of such a dramatic shift.

For the global oil industry to transition to fully renewable energy, it would require an extraordinary transformation in energy infrastructure and technology. The primary candidates to replace oil are solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower energy sources, with the potential integration of hydrogen as a clean alternative to natural gas.

In most scenarios, solar and wind power would take center stage in a renewable-driven world.
